College can be tough. EmpowerU is here to help! We promote empowerment through peer-to-peer mentoring and are currently looking for mentors interested in guiding incoming freshmen through the first year of college. What is EmpowerU?
EmpowerU is a new initiative which encourages empowerment and leadership through peer-to-peer student relationships. Students gain the skills and knowledge to empower themselves, their peers, and their communities.
We believe that every individual, when given extraordinary resources, peers, and the appropriate tools, can ignite a passion for positive change of self and others.
Through peer mentoring, EmpowerU aims to serve as a guide for every student to self-realize the skills, talents, and dreams that lie within while providing opportunities to maximize personal potential at Penn State and beyond.
The end product is a rewarding and unique growth experience for each individual.
How is EmpowerU different from any other mentoring program?
EmpowerU is different because it is thematic to the college experience, not to a major, race, etc. In addition, EmpowerU gives students the opportunity to put the skills and knowledge gained through the program to practical use in the second half of the year-long program.
